Valerie & Courtney Bio
This season of My Kitchen Rules saw Valerie and Courtney, mother and daughter duo representing QLD with their Anglo Indian heritage food.
Valerie was born in Delhi India to parents who were also born and bred in Delhi India. The traditions of India continued in Australia with Courtney taking to the kitchen like a duck takes to water.
Valerie and Courtney soared through the MKR competition receiving 10 out of 10’s from the judges who referred to the duo’s food as a “masterclass in spice”.
Time and time again they proved themselves cooking amazing dishes passed down from generations, memorialized in a cookbook of family recipes most from Valerie’s father dating back 40 years ago.
Some of the dishes the judges had never tasted before which not only wowed them, but also the other contestants making the duo a force to be reckoned with. This cemented a place for the girls in the grand final, which ultimately saw them coming in a close second.
The girls’ knowledge of food as well as their fun and gregarious personalities have seen them in high demand and popular choice with sponsors, hosting events, recording digital commercial series, contributing all things food each week to Style magazine, writing a cookbook and working on a line of sauces and spices – there’s plenty more on ‘the burner’ keeping the girls busy.
They have over 25,000 fans following them between their social feeds, have their own sauce on the shelves of national grocery juggernaut Coles which sold out in the first 24hrs nationally and have released a second batch, with 92% sold.
